A pragmatic approach to daily life objects
Born in Portugal (1982), Daniel Vieira graduated in Product Design in 2006. After his studies, he co-founded brands like Brahm, 0Kcal and SayGrrr. In 2009 he was awarded the ‘Daciano da Costa’ National Design Award. The jury enhanced the simplicity and conceptual coherence of the presented products and furniture systems.
He completed his master degree in 2010 with a monograph on the pioneer product designer Eduardo Afonso Dias, entitled: ‘Two decades of product design in Portuguese’. Since then he has been collaborating with different brands like BurelFactory, WeWood, BlackCork, &Blanc and others. He creates a practical and simple design to get a beauty out of utility. A philosophical and pragmatic approach to daily life objects.
Over the years Daniel has been invited to lecturer about design at different universities, such as University of Minho, Superior School of Media Arts and Design at Polytechnic Institute of Porto, School of Technology and Management at Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo; events, like DRIVE 2018 – Design Related Investigation at the ESMAD or WANTED 2012 at the Design Institute of Guimarães; and academic project evaluations.
He is currently developing his PhD in smart textiles for sportswear, at the same time, is a researcher at 2C2T/LAB2PT on the University of Minho.
